Petrol and Diesel delivery delays
The main fuel retailers in the UK (Shell, Esso/Mobil and BP, including Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury and Morrisons) are currently experiencing reduced delivery of petrol and diesel to their forecourts. This problem is primarily related to a combination of logistical issues and sudden unexpected high volume consumption.
The UK's withdrawal from the EU has impacted on european freedom of movement which in turn has resulted in a reduced number of fuel tanker drivers available to work in the Country.
The government are considering measures designed to help meet Britains fuel needs, such as a temporary visa system for foreign tanker drivers. One other such measure involves the deployment of millitary tankers and personnel, and the Prime Minister Boris Johnson has confirmed that Britain's army is now on standby. In the meantime, the fuel needs of key workers and the emergency services are being given priority.
For now, the pump shortages and forcourt closures continue. And, while these issues rumble on, Fuel Britain will endevour to keep you updated on where you can to fill up locally.
